Since its founding, Caracol has always worked hard to share with others the knowledge acquired through its people and experience. The company does this every day with the projects and case studies shared across its channels, through trainings to clients and partners, and with workshops for “students” of all ages: from elementary school to professionals and executives. Aligned with this commitment and to foster its investment on knowledge sharing, the company is launching the Caracol Academy – as giving back to the community by sharing what it has been privileged to learn is an extremely rewarding part of the company’s daily work.
As its first activity, Caracol has partnered with ASLAM, accredited institution for training, job orientation and employment services in Lombardy region, and MOBILITA foundation for the post graduate course “Robotics, Mechatronics and Additive Manufacturing” (“Robotica, sistemi meccatronici e additive manufacturing”).
Mechatronics is a valuable industrial asset for the Italian economy and its international competitiveness. Industry 4.0 trends have led to technological and digital transformation, together with the innovation of production processes: the current industrial shift in which production becomes fully automated and interconnected to simplify processes and optimize human labor. Additive Manufacturing is a key lever for this digital-led transition, as it consists in transferring manufacturing processes from manual operations to computer-controlled processes. Objects with precise geometric shapes are 3D printed layer by layer instead of removing material as it happens with traditional manufacturing subtractive methods. The potential of AM is boundless, as shown by the increased adoption of these technologies by advanced industrial players, due to their very tangible benefits: design flexibility, production customization, shorter lead times, reduced raw materials used and wasted materials, optimized manufacturing processes.
Caracol and Mobilita join forces for the post graduate on Robotics, Mechatronics and Additive Manufacturing
The post-graduate course held by MOBILITA, Fondazione Istituto Tecnico Superiore per la filiera dei Trasporti e della Logistica Intermodale in Lombardia, responds to the market’s demand for skilled people able to work with these digital processes, increasingly applying them as a standard within manufacturing contexts.
The course will take place in Milan starting from October 2023, and during its 2-year program, students will learn and put into practice the fundamentals of Robotics, Mechatronics and Additive Manufacturing applied to Mobility. With tutors from Caracol the company will be transferring its know-how on how these technologies can serve as a lever for innovation in many advanced industries such as aerospace, automotive, railway and marine. Through a mix of lectures, workshops and on-the-field trainings, students will develop skills and knowledge about automation, mechatronics and robotics, materials science and manufacturing technologies, and finish the course perfectly capable of joining innovative companies in the industrial world, like Caracol, with a unique skill set.
Caracol will be hosting the first Factory Open Day on September 14, 2023. Aspiring 3d printing professionals and students passionate about smart technologies will have the chance to collect detailed information about the post-graduate course starting in October. The event will take place in Caracol’s headquarters in Barlassina to show the variaty of Additive Manufacturing applications within one of the largest plants dedicated to LFAM in Europe. To attend the Open Day, online registration is mandatory and attendees will be contacted for further deatils about the day.
